Customs Suspends Argentine Beef Enterprise's Export to China

On August 24th, the official website of the General Administration of Customs updated the "Registration List of Overseas Production Enterprises for Imported Food", stating that the import of beef products from Halmon S.A., a factory in Uruguay, to China was temporarily suspended.

It is not uncommon for Argentine beef companies to evade taxes and fees by falsely reporting their invoice receipts. At the beginning of this year, Argentine exporters were found to have falsely reported fees in beef shipped to China. A total of 22 meat exporting companies issued invoices at a low price to avoid withholding and income tax payments. The Argentine government has also launched a special action to combat tax evasion in the raw meat trade.
