Why cannot pet food be brought into the country at will

 

 

 

Imported pet food has always been sought after by domestic pet enthusiasts, and many families choose to go online or bring pet food into China from overseas, mainly including dog food, cat food, and fish food. However, most of these pet foods contain animal derived products or ingredients such as meat, fat, and bones. Pet foods that have not been quarantined and entered the country may carry and spread infectious diseases among humans, animals, or zoonotic animals. If they come from countries where animal diseases are prevalent, they may lead to the spread of the epidemic.

 

 

 

Why can't dog food bought in foreign supermarkets be brought back to China?

 

 

 

Pet dog food contains meat components and belongs to animal derived feed. According to relevant laws and regulations, the General Administration of Customs implements access management for imported feed. Only feed products that have been approved by customs and issued inspection and quarantine certificates by official institutions of the exporting country or region in the access list published on the website of the General Administration of Customs can enter the country. Animal derived feed that does not meet the above conditions is prohibited from being carried or mailed into the country.
